The Scoop - April 25, 2016
The Lima Rotary Club's Annual Meeting was April 25.
Jared Lehman was our Sgt.-at-Arms, with Maria Sanko providing fellowship. She shared many bizarre events that occur this week, including National Hug a Plumber Day, National Hairstylist Day, National Red Hat Day, National Malaria Day and National World Penguin Day. (The World Penguin lobby is always so formal...)

May 12th will be the groundbreaking of the Rotary Centennial Project - Abilities Field. Stay tuned for more details...

Scott Shafer mentioned that the Foundation is looking for a new Secretary. Consider how you could help your club in this important position.

President Runk called to order our official annual meeting. Details should be posted close by - with the specific provisions voted on and balance of the club accounts. We are still cleaning up from a large accounts receivable, but much has been accomplished. Please make sure your dues are paid up - the funds are put to good use.

Exchange student Eda Tanriverdi told us all about her home country of Turkey and her experiences as guest of the Ada Rotary Club.
Carol Buettner provided the invocation, and Jeff Utterbrink delivered the Sergeant at Arms report. Judge Richard Warren led us in the (spoken) Four-Way Test before Tim Sielschott shared some parenting advice during his Fellowship.
President Runk inducted five new members into the club:
Katherine Sarno (introduced by Jeff Sprague and sponsored by Tracie Sanchez),
Joe Kitchen (sponsored by Jeff Sprague),
Heather Rutz (sponsored by Jill Ackerman),
Joe Whittaker (sponsored by Andy Wannemacher), and
Marc Bowker (sponsored by John Ficorilli). We are delighted to welcome them all.
Becky Waggamon encouraged all members to participate in the MESA bike ride, and David Runk reminded us of upcoming events, including the Ottawa River clean up, District Conference, the Spring Blood Clinic, groundbreaking for Abilities Field, the Memorial Day Parade, the Rex Perry Golf Outing and the MESA Clothing Drive.
Angela Hersh, an Assistant Governor of District 6600, introduced our speaker, Eda Tanriverdi, an exchange student from Turkey. Eda is spending the year living with three different families in
Ada as part of the Rotary student exchange program. She described the geography, culture, food and traditions of Turkey, the bridge between Europe and Asia.
