Changing of the Guard
Thank you, President Derek for your service and welcome, President Lesley!
Lesley Fry ceremoniously took over the leadership of the Lima Rotary Club at Monday's annual Changing of the Guard in a meeting filled with laughter, recognition, and fellowship. President Lesley says that during her year she wants to concentrate on the club's public image, membership, and making an impact through the Lima Rotary Foundation. Outgoing President Derek Stemen was thanked for his leadership and his service above self, and hilariously roasted by Chief Andy Heffner. We also recognized those who have been members of the club for more than 40 years. They are:
  • 60 Years - PP Chuck Leidy
  • 52 Years - Bob Komminsk
  • 51 Years - Chuck Butts
  • 49 Years - PP Dick Schroeder
  • 48 Years - PP Bill Timmermeister
  • 48 Years - PP David Steiner
  • 47 Years - PP Fred Seelenbinder
  • 44 Years - Larry Webb
  • 41 Years - Frank Guagenti
  • 41 Years - Phil Trueblood
  • 40 Years - Carl Berger
  • 40 Years - Jeff Tracy
We observed a moment of silence for Alberta Lee whom we lost on March 30. We thanked outgoing board members Andy Wannemacher and Keith Horner and outgoing Foundation board members Demi Burden and Mike Powell for their service. We also announced our annual Avenues of Service Award Winners. They are:
  • Rex Perry Club Service Award - Katy Page
  • John Rudolph Community Service Award - Todd Benz
  • Harold Goodnight International Service Award - Michael Ayers
  • Henry Wemmer Vocational Service Award - Rich Rudolph & Tracie Sanchez
  • Peter Hulsken Youth Service - Susan Hubbell
Congratulations to the winners and thank you for all you do to make our club, our community and our world a better place! A special thank you to Mary Elmquist-Lane for an outstanding job of organizing Changing of the Guard. We are looking forward to an excellent 2023-2024!

Field of Dreams
The Lima Rotary Club cheered on the players at the Field of Dreams.
The Lima Rotary Club took its June social to the Field of Dreams. The club donated $100,000 to help build this completely accessible ballfield as a celebration of our 100th anniversary in 2015 and we had fun cheering on the kids during their final games of the season. We also passed out bottled water and American flags to the players, their families and friends. Thanks to all who attended and volunteered!

Golf Outing
Register your team now for the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing.
The Rex Perry Memorial Golf outing will be held on August 16th at Hidden Creek Golf Course. The Golf Outing raises money for our Rotary Club Scholarship efforts. The outing has a 9 am shotgun start. Hole sponsorships are $250, and a 4-man team is $380. We are looking also for volunteers for that day to help with the event. We will be selling 50/50 tickets for the event at the meetings before the outing so if you can’t attend you can still help our efforts.  We are also looking for any door prizes you or your company can donate. Please reach out to Andy Wannemacher or Scott Neth with your interest in the golf outing.

2023 Rotary magazine photo award finalists
Though shot in different parts of the world, using distinct palettes, and evoking different emotions, the finalists in this year’s Rotary magazine Photo Awards all have one thing in common: an unseen beauty. There are a dozen photographs that carry us from Egypt to Idaho, from Nigeria to Taiwan. Along the way we see everything from an intimate moment as a medical team prepares for surgery to a sweeping nightscape illuminated by an aurora borealis. View all the finalists in the June issue of the magazine online.

Growing youth voice: inspiration from convention
At the 2023 International Convention in Melbourne, Australia, young leaders from the Interact and Youth Advisory Councils presented "The Future is Now: Growing Youth Voices" to a full breakout session audience! In this session, councilmembers and RI Director Vicki Puliz discussed how youth can have a larger impact across Rotary clubs, districts, and zones and why youth participation matters. While the breakout wasn't recorded, you can watch this recent webinar on the same topic: Expanding Reach: Partner with Youth in Service
