Here are the highlights from the August 11th board meeting.
Call to Order                                                                                                               Craig Kupferberg
President Craig Kupferberg called the meeting to order at 11:37 A.M. with the following board members present: Craig Kupferberg, Troy Elwer, Chip Bullock, Carol Buettner, Berlin Carroll, Beth Seibert, Jennifer Mason. Also, Secretary Anne Decker and Jayson Paglow were present.
 
Secretary’s Report                                                                                                     Anne Decker
Approval of the June 9 and July 14, 2026 Board Meeting Minutes
Elwer made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 9 and July 14 board meetings. Buettner seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Attendance Report for July 2026
No new members joined the club and two members resigned in July 2026. June attendance was 31.818%. The month ended with 125 active members and 5 honorary members.     
 
President’s Report                                                                                                     Craig Kupferberg
AI Projects
Member Jayson Paglow is a software engineer who helps businesses integrate AI into their operations. He is going to consult with the club on ways AI can help with membership recruitment/retention, secretarial duties, grant writing and more.
 
Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
The Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for August 19 at Hidden Creek Golf Club. Volunteers are being sought to assist with the outing.
 
Fair Ticket Takers
The Lima Rotary Club will be taking tickets at grandstand events at the Allen County Fair in exchange for a $1,000 donation to the club. Volunteers are being sought.
 
Young Professionals
Kupferberg is looking into possible collaborations with Lima Young Professionals, a Chamber of Commerce organization for professionals from the ages of 18-45. Elwer is a member and will ask their board about ways to encourage YP members to join the Lima Rotary Club.
 
Online Store
The Lima Rotary Club opens an online store for Rotary clothing each fall with $5 from each purchase going to our PolioPlus campaign. Decker will send a link to the store to board members so they can review the available merchandise.
 
Safety City Trick or Treat
Safety City Trick or Treat is Saturday, October 24 from 12:00-2:00. Mason made a motion that the club purchase and pass out candy at the Rotary Pavilion in Safety City during the event. Elwer seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
STEAM on the Quad
The Empowering Girls Committee requested that the club pass out water at STEAM on the Quad on September 27 from 1:00-4:00 at the OSU/Lima campus. More than 800 children ages K-8 attend the event to explore hands-on activities that will improve their knowledge and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Elwer made a motion to approve the request, and to approve the purchase of water up to $150 if the committee is unable to find a donor. Mason seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Anisha Hale Attending RI Convention.
Anisha Hale has expressed interest in attending the 2027 Rotary International Convention in Barcelona. Club bylaws permit the club to provide her with up to $1,500 in funding for the trip. Bullock made a motion to approve $1,500 for Hale’s trip. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
September Board Meeting
Shawnee Country Club is closed on September 8 and unable to host the club’s board meeting. Kupferberg will look for an alternate meeting location.
 
Board Reports
Holiday Home Tour
Decker reported that two, possibly three homes have been secured for the 2026 Holiday Home Tour. Two to three more homes are being sought, with one of them preferably in the Elida area where one of the other homes is located.
 
Treasurer’s Report                                                                                                            
Neither the treasurer or bookkeeper were in attendance so the financial report was not presented.

Applications
Buettner made a motion to approve applications from Brandon Jarrett – Senior Manager of Site Maintenance at Cam Industrial, and Drew Cano – Superintendent of the Bath Local School District. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved.
Resignations
Elwer made a motion to approve the resignations of Joe Watson and Mike Estes with regret. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Motion To Adjourn
Elwer made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved. Kupferberg adjourned the meeting at 12:41 P.M.
