Here are the highlights from the June 9th board meeting.
Call to Order Ken Dysert
Dysert called the meeting to order at 12:04 PM with the following members present: Carol Buettner, Andy Farley, John Ficorilli, Jeff Fitzgerald, Jed Metzger, Theresa Schnipke, and Paul Swartz. Also Treasurer Dan Best and Secretary Rita Brown.
Secretary’s Report Rita Brown
Attendance report
Brown shared information from the May Attendance Report. The month of May ended with a total of 156 Active Members and Five Honorary Members for a total of 161. There were no applications or resignations. The Club held one meeting using Zoom on May 18th. Attendance was 37.42%.
President's Report Ken Dysert
Annual Meeting Update
Dysert stated he appreciated everyone’s involvement and input into the meeting. He has heard numerous positive comments. Metzger made a motion to approve the minutes of the Annual Meeting as submitted and Ficorilli seconded the motion. Board approved.
Board Members
Dysert welcomed new members Derek Stemen, Keith Horner and Andy Wannemacher to the Board and thanked outgoing members Paul Swartz, Catheryn Sarno and Jed Metzger for their service to the Club as Board Members.

Golf Outing Update
Dysert reported the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing is now scheduled to be held on August 26, 2020, at Hidden Creek Golf Club.
President Elect Report John Ficorilli
EREY Paul Harris
Ficorilli indicated Club Members Richard Schroeder and Dave Runk will again be involved in administration and member education of the EREY Paul Harris Corporate Program.
Committee Chairs for 2020 – 2021
Ficorilli stated the Committee Chair selection is still a work in progress. Beth Seibert will be Program Chair for 2020 – 2021. Adah Ellerbrock will assume the role of Membership Chair. He is in the process of filling the Director of Fund Raising Chair position.
Rotary International Virtual Convention
The virtual convention will be held from June 20 – June 26. He encouraged Board Members to sign up for sessions that interest them. If they are not able to attend at the time, RI will have the presentations recorded and available to watch later.
Treasurer Report Dan Best
Best stated his current goal is creating the budget for 2020 – 2021. He also is proposing to create a road map for the members so they fully understand what is expected of them. He discussed billing for the next quarter. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of meetings, members were not charged the full amount for the current quarter. At this time a decision needs to be made on the strategy for going forward. Billing will be contingent on the budget. Buettner made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as submitted. Swartz seconded the motion. Board approved.
New Business:
2020 – 2021 Fiscal Year Meeting Schedule and Cancellations John Ficorilli
The Board reviewed the US Holiday Calendar for the period July 2020 through June 2021. The Club will not hold meetings on the following Mondays:
- Monday September 7, 2020 - Labor Day
- Monday October 12, 2020 – Columbus Day
- Monday December 28, 2020 – Monday during Christmas/New Year’s week
- Monday January 18, 2021 – Martin Luther King Birthday
- Monday February 15, 2021 – Presidents’ Day
- Monday May 31, 2021 – Memorial Day
Buettner made a motion to adopt the schedule as proposed. Farley seconded the motion. Board approved.
Future Meeting Logistics
Ficorilli stated the Club hopes to return to the VMCC beginning July 6, 2020. The meeting format will be a hybrid arrangement with Face to Face at the VMCC and an electronic option that will allow members to view the meeting and participate with questions, etc.
Changing of the Guard Rita Brown
The Changing of the Guard will be held on Monday June 29th via Zoom. Electronic invitations will be going out soon. Also the toast/roast has been changed to a new format which will also be a memento for Ken.
New Members
Tommie Harner, West OH Food Bank
Tommie will be replacing Linda Hamilton as CEO at the West OH Food Bank effective July 1, 2020. Farley made a motion to accept the application of Tommie Harner. Buettner seconded the motion. Board approved.
Resignations
Alison VanGorder, former Superintendent at Perry Schools
Jay Wenger, Wenger Insurance,
Ficorilli made a motion to accept both resignations with regret. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. Board approved.
There being no further business, Dysert adjourned the meeting at 12.58 PM.
