Rotary hosts annual high school football preview.
This Monday at Lima Rotary Club, it was time again to preview the high school football season that is upon us.
Vince Koza, sports marketing director for Childers Media Group, organized and facilitated the program, talking with area football coaches to preview their seasons.
This fall, several new coaches are new to high school football programs. One of those is actually a familiar face to local football fans. Jerry Cooper spent many years in the Lima area coaching, and has returned with Shawnee High School Indians.
Why did he come back?
“We’ve always considered Lima home,” Cooper said. “There’s no place like Northwest Ohio to experience high school athletics and football.”
How good will they be?
The Indians return 17 letter winners from last year.
“We’re trying to instill some discipline, and attention to detail,” Cooper said. “How good we’ll be is determined by how hard we’ll work.”
Allen East, Ada, Perry, and Bath also have new coaches.
Several teams in the area hope for playoff runs, including Spencerville, Delphos St. John’s, and Lima Central Catholic.
