Local vet recommends regular vaccines for our pets.
Diseases can be passed between animals, and sometimes to humans, so Dr. Ethan Carder from Metz Petz told us that we should be sure our pets are vaccinated. He told us that DAPP is the core vaccine for dogs and includes distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus and parinfluenza. Rabies is also a core vaccine. There are also lifestyle vaccines such as bordatella, leptospirosis, Lyme disease and influenza which are optional, depending on your dog's lifestyle. The DAPP vaccine should be given at 6-8 weeks of age and every 3-4 weeks for a total of three vaccines. The rabies vaccine should be given at 16 weeks. Boosters should be given yearly. With these precautions, your dogs will most likely avoid these devastating diseases.
Also at Monday's meeting, Ronda Lehman exchanged her red badge for her blue badge. Congratulations!
