District Governor shares her Rotary story.
Rotary District 6600 Governor Katherine Eboch shared her personal Rotary story at the Lima Rotary Club on Monday and encouraged us to share our own with other members at our tables. It was a wonderful way to remember why we are members and appreciate all the benefits Rotary brings to us and our community. Katherine explained that this year's Rotary International theme is Create Lasting Impact, and she noted that Rotary's vision includes lasting change in ourselves as well as in our communities. She congratulated the Lima Rotary Club for surpassing the $1 million mark in scholarships presented to non-traditional students, and praised programs like the Special Needs Christmas Party, Rex Perry Memorial Golf Tournament and the Holiday Home Tour. Katherine is a member of the Anthony Wayne Area Rotary Club, and she got her start in Rotary as a founding member of the Maumee High School Interact Club, an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and leadership.

Also at Monday's meeting, Troy Elwer presented a $352 check from the Lima Rotary Foundation to Soldiers of Honor boxing club. This is the proceeds from our third quarter Rottery drawings.
President Craig welcomed Amy Ricker as the club's new treasurer and thanked Jason Bice for his service in the position for the past two years.
And we got an update on the Empowering Girls Committee from Dr. Susan Hubbell and Grace Shirk. They are partnering with Junior Achievement on a program called BixTown which combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town where students put their skills to work by becoming employees and consumers in a hands-on simulated learning facility that features many different businesses and industries. If you would like to volunteer, contact Grace.
